Kayla Grinnell is a 2013 graduate of Meredith College with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance Studies. She will performed Eleanor Smith’s choreography in the North Carolina Dance Festival Tour. She trained in modern, jazz, and ballet while at Meredith and performed as a backup hip hop dancer with Ronnie West’s company Black Irish. Kayla was a full company member of Meredith Jazz & Tap Company and Meredith Dance Theatre for two years. One of her hip hop/modern pieces of choreography was chosen to be performed at the All Dance Festival, a part of the North Carolina Dance Festival hosted at Meredith. Another modern piece was selected to be performed in the American College Dance Festival, where she has also performed. Kayla has received many awards such as Outstanding Student Choreographer, Outstanding Student Performer, and the Meredith Dance Theatre Dedication award.
