DDI’s Intensive Training Program (ITP) is designed for dancers that desire to excel in technical and performance skills beyond what training one day a week can accomplish. Dancers attend class two to five times weekly depending on age and level. There are four companies within the ITP: Ballet, Jazz/Contemporary, Hip-Hop and Tap. All companies perform in two professional galas per year.
Jazz/Contemporary, Hip-Hop and Tap companies perform with their class and must audition for their placement. In addition to their two annual galas, these companies produce a wonderful benefit show at a local high school. All proceeds from their performance are donated to a local charity or a need in our community. The students also hold other fundraisers to contribute further to the cause.
The ballet classes in the ITP are technique only and students may audition to perform with our non-profit ballet company, Wake Forest Youth Ballet (WFYB). WFYB produces three beautiful performances of the Nutcracker for their winter gala. In the summer gala, they have performed ballet stories such as Snow White, The Wizard of Oz, Pinocchio, as well as other repertoire pieces.
Educational opportunities are offered to the dancers beyond their regular classes, such as master classes and workshops. DDI also holds a summer jazz and hip-hop intensive as well as a summer ballet intensive in which our dancers have the opportunity to study with world-renowned instructors. We welcome young students with a special passion for and dedication to the art of dance.
Commitment to class attendance, rehearsals and performances is required of the dancers for the entire season as well as training in the summer. Students reap many rewards dedicating themselves to this level of training.
Our Intensive Training Program offers the highest caliber dance training in the Raleigh/Wake Forest area. Our goal is to provide a sense of community and belonging while cultivating talent and good citizenship in our students. The option to train in our Intensive Training Program and not perform is available.
